HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 118 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WATER RATES AND FIXING THE COMPEN SATION FOR PURE WATER FOR FAMILY USE:S, FOR PRIVATE PURPOSES, AND MUNICIPAL PURPOSES .AND FOR ALP PUBLIC USES IN AND FOR THE CITy OF BAKERSFIELD, KERN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, FOR THE YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1907, AND ENDING JUNE The Board of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, California, do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. The rates to. be charged and collecte~ by any person, company,association or corporation supplying the City of Bakersfield, or the inhabitants thereof with water, and for water furnished to sai~ City or the inhabitants thereof, are hereby fixed for the fiscal year commencing July 1st, 1907, and ending June 30th, 1908, as follows: ...... 1- For every tenement or dwelling house of not exceeAing three rooms, occupied b~~ a single family, 6§ cents per month. · 2- For every tenement or dwelling house of four rooms, occupied by a single family, 75 cents piSr month. S- For every tenement or dweL!~.ng house of five rooms, occupied by a single fatally, 85 cents per month. 4- For every tenement or dwelling house of six rooms, occupied by a single family, 95 cents per month. §- For every tenement or d~elling house of seven rooms, occupied by a single family, $1.05 per month. 6- For every t,~nement or dwelling house of eight rooms, occupied by a single family, $1.15 per month. 7- For every tenement or dwelling house of n~.ne rooms, oecupie~ 8- Per every tenement or dwelling house of ten rooms, occupied by a single family, $1.35 per month. 9- ~or every tenement or dwelling house of over ten ro,_e~s.!.,..:.':.a.~..;i .,. occupied by a s.tngle family, for each additional room 5 cents., p,e..r ':. '"" month· 10- For hotels or boarding houses, in addition to family rates, for each boarder, 10 cents per month. 1i- For lodging houses, in addition to family rates, for each lodger, 5 cents per month. 12- For business blocks, for each office, in addition to a basis rate of $2.00, 8 cents per month. IS- For private fire .hydrants, each 25 cents per month. 14~ For restaurants and eating houses, accor~ing to the daily average of people fed, for each 2§ people per day, $1.75 per month. 15- For public bath tubs, each tub §0 cents per month. 16- For bath tubs in hotels and lodging houses for use of guests only, each tub, SO c.~nts per month. ..... 17- For public urinals, each, 25 cents per month · . . 18- For water closets in private residences, 15 cents per month. ....... l~-'For public w~ter closets in business blocks; 50 ce~s. per month. 20- For public water closets in stores, 2§ cents per month. ~1- For public water closets in hotels, ~5 cents per month. 22- For sprinkling lawns and gardens, 1 cent per front foot for lots not exceeding 1BO feet dee~ per month. 2~- For all additional area a proportionate rate shall be charged; provided thaf. the sprinkling rate for no y~rd shall be less than 2§ cents per month. Also that when the amount of lawn or shrubbery, or both, does not exceed 40 square yards, the minimum rate of 2§ cents shall be charged per month. 24- For horses kept for private use, including water for washing vehicles, one horse, 1~ cents per month. Each additional horse, 5 cents per month. 25- For livery, ~oard and hack stables, including water for washing vehicles, for each horse, 25 oentm per month. 26-' For feed and sale stables, where no wash rack is used for each horse 10 cents per month. 2?- For each water trough in public streets, $1.00 per mo~th. 28- FOr be.keries, in addition to tenement rates, for each barrel of flour used, S cents per 29- For barber shops, for each chair, 20 cents per month. ~0- For boarding schools, in addition to tenement rates, for each pupil, 5 cents per month. From SO,O00 and over, 5 cents per th'.o.u'$.~nd gallons. 42- Ail rates except metre rates are due' and payable in advance, snd metre rates are due and payable, at the end of the month, excepting that a deposit may be ~equir.e.d thereon not exceed- ing th?es'quarters of the estimated quantity of water, used. " '4S- For water required for p~rposes which are not specified in the "above tariffs, the rates shall be fixed in accordance with the above rates. 44- No charge will be made for bath tubs in private residences. For irrigating acreage proper'tM, per cubic foot per second for twenty four hours, 75 cents. SECTION 2.- 1- No person, except a fire-man in discharge of is ''~" .... " '?' duty, shall without a written permit from the'company, open or in any way tamper with any fire hydrant, stop-cock or air-cock connected with the mains of said Compaules or persons. ~- Immediately upon au alarm of fire, all persons using water for sprinkling ox· ir~0igating purposes must close t~".eir faucets and keep them closed dur.ing the continuance of the use of the water bM the fire department. SECTION S.- This ordinance 'fixes the maximum beyond which any person,company, association or corporation shall not~ be permitted to charge or collect for wa~er supplied. ~ SECTION 4.- This ordinance shall take effect and be in fdll force ana effect on the first day of July,~ A. D. 1~07~, _and ~em~ln~ln~_ full force until and including the SOth day of June, A.
