Section 1.
The City Clerk shall cause a No~ice of Election
and Proclamation to be published in the Bakersfield Californian',
and in each of the' dail~ issues 'thereof, of the Special ElectiOn

NOTICE OF ELECTION AND PROOLANATION.

KNOW YE. THAT pursuant to' .law and to the order of the
· Board of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, State
of California, duly s':mde and entered upon its minutes on the SOth
clay of December, 1907, Notice is hereby given, that a Special "'-?'..
Election will be held in the maid City of Bakersfield, said
County and State aforesaid on the first Tuesday after the last
Monday in the Month of February. A.D. 1908. The' said Tuesday
being the twenty-fifth d.~,y of said Month , the said Special
Election is called for the purpose of deterimining whether the two
municipal Corporations, to-wit:- the Town of Kern, a city of the
sixth class and the City of Bakersfield, a city of the fifth
class, shall be consolidated into one Municipal Corporation.
The name of ~:uch proposed new corporation shall be City o~
Bakersfield and said purposed new corporation will belong to the
cities of the fourth class.
And the qualified electors within the corporate limits
of the ~ow City of Bakersfield, ~re, and each of them is hereby
invited to vote upon said proposition of such Special Election to
be held on said twenty-fifth day of February, A. D. i~OS, in said
City of Bakersfield, by placing upon their ballots, the words
FOR CONSOLIDATION or AGAINST CONSOLIDATION or words equivalent

So. id Notice shall be signed by the President of the Board
of Oity Trustees and by th,; City Olerk, and the Oity Clerk shall
ca~se the seal of said ~it7 to be attached thereto and shall
cause said Notice of Election and Proclamation to be published
for not less than four weeks prior to the day of said Special
Election.
Sec t ion 2.
The Election Precincts which existed for the
last General Election in said. City are hereby designated as the
Election Precincts for this Special Election and the places herein
named shall be the places in each~said princinct~in which
said Sp.'~cial Election shall be held and the fol!o~ing named
percons ere hereby appointed to constitute the Boards of Election
of said Special Election of the various Precincts hereinafter

Election must be held at the Harness Shop. of the Kern COunt7
Land Company at the North East Corner of "O" and 2,0th streets,

The City Clerk shall cause the nznes of such
Special Election Boo~rds, together with the places herein named
as the places where said Special Election must be held in each
said Election Precincts, to be published in the Bakersfield
Californian, and in each of the daily issues for at least four
~e~ks prior to the day of said Special Election, and he shall
also post ~t each of tho said Election places in each of said
Election precincts a copy of said publication together with a
copy of the Election Notice ~ud Proclamation as set for~ in
Section 1 of this 0rdin~nce at least ten days prior to the day of
s~id Special Election.
Section 5.
The Cit7 Clerk shall cause to have printed
ballots, vrhich said ballots shall be in the following forM.

in all other respects the ballot shall be in compliance with
section 1197 of the Political Code of this State.
Sect ion 6
The City Clerk shall mail a sample ballot to
each qualified elector within the corporate limits of the City at
least ten days before thc day of said Special Election.

The Oity Olerk shall cause to have printed, and
mailed to each qualified elector within the corporate limits of
said Olty, a notice of the day of said special election together
with the nul.~ber of the eBBction precinct to Which said qualified
elector belongs, and a~so the place in said precinct where sai~
special election Is to be held~ ~
