MUNICIPAL ELECTION to ~e held in the City of Bakersfield on the second
Monday of the month of April, 1911, for the purpose of electing the
officers required by law to be elected in said city; for submit-
ting to the qualified electors of said city the question whether or
not the members of the Board of Trustees shml~l receive compensa-
tion for their services as such; for the appointment of Boards of
election and fixing their compensation;for the consolidating
and roaming of ele.'ction precincts; for the holding of such elec-
tion;' for designating the place in each Such consolidated
election precinct for holding such election.; for the publish-
ing of notice of said election and for posting the same; for
the printing of ballotts and for mailing of sample ballots$
for the for~,ation of election precincts in that part of the
Bakersfield school district lying without the incorporate

The Board of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield. ordain as

Section 1
There shall be held a general municipal election in the
City of Bakersfield on the 2nd Monday in the month of April
A.D.1911,. for the purpose of electing all the officers required
by. law to be elected in said city. The officers to be
elected are as follows:A Board of Trustees to consist of
five members; a Board of Education to consist of five members;
A Recorder: A Treasurer: A'Clerk: An Attorney; A Marshal; An
Assessor; said officers to hold office until the Monday next
succeeding the day of the general municipal election to be

Section 2~'-
The election precincts which existed for the holding
of the last preceeding general State Election are hereby
consolidated into election precincts for the holding of said
general municipal election and the places herein named
shall be the places· in each of s~,.id consolidated election
precincts in which said gener~l municipal election shall be
held and in which the polls therefor will be opened. The
Boards of election of each of said consolidated election pre-
cincts and the officers thereof shall consist of, two inspec-
tors, two Judges, two clerks and two ballot·t clerks, and the
places hereinafter named shall be the places at Which the
polls in each of the said consolidated election precincts
will be opened,· and the persons hereinafter na~ned shall
constitute the Boards of Election and elec$ion officers of each
of said consolidated election precincts, and the precincts
hereinafter named which formed the election precincts for the
holding of the last general state election ~,~re hereby consol-
idated to form said consolidated election precinct for such
general municipal election; and the numbers hereinafter spe-
cified shall be the numbers for the said consolids, ted election
precincts for said general municipal election :

Election precincts Bakersfield. Number One and Five
which existed for the holding of the last preceeding general
State election are hereby formed into and shall constitute
consolidated election precinct Number One. The election
must be held and the polls opened at the hs~ness shop of the
Kern County· Land Company, located at the north east corner
of "G" and Twentieth Streets, and' the Board of Election of
said precinct shall be:

Consolidated Election Precinct Number Two. The Election
must be held and the polls opened at 'the plumbing shop of'
the Daly Plumbing Company located on the east side of "K"
Street between Seventeenth and Eighteenth Streets, and the
Board of election of said Precinct shall be:

Election precincts Bakersfield Numbers Two, Three and
Four, which existed for the holding of the last preceeding
general state election are hereby formed into and shall
constitute Consolidated Election Precinct Number TDree.
The Election must be :held 'and the Polls opened at the fire
engine~ house, located at the South East corner of "K"
and Twentieth Streets, and the Board of Election of said
, Precinct ·shall be:

must be held and the Polls opened at the barn of James
and the Board of Election of said Precinct shall be:

held and the polls opened at 'the Chemical Hose Ho'use located
on Baker Street between Kentucky and Lake Streets, and the
BOard of Election of said Precinct shall be:

existed for the holding of the last preceeding general State

solidated Election Precinc~ Number Six. The election must be
held and the polls opened at the fire engine.house located
on Humboldt Street Between Baker & King Streets, and the
Board of Election of said. Precinct shall be:

That part of the territory' belonging to the B~(ersfield
School District lying outside of the incorporate limits of
said city is hereby formed into two election precincts for the
purpose of enabling the qualified electors of said outlying
territor$ to vote for the Board of Education, and the bounL

after n~ned and the Boards of election and election officers
for each of said precincts shall consist of two inspectors-
two Judges, two clerks and two ballott clerks, and the places
hereinafter named shall be the places, at which the polls

tion and election officers of each of said. election precincts.
OUTSIDE LYING PRECINCT NUMBER ONE.
All of that territory belonging to the Bakersfield
School district and forming part thereof lying outside of the
incorporated limits of the city of Bakersfield, and ~m~keast
of the Union Avenue road shall constitute and form Outside
Lying Precinct Number One. The Election must be held and
the polls opened at'Hick's Ba.rn, and the Board of election
of said precinct shall be:

ing Precinct Number Two. The election must beheld and the
polls opened in the a~o~e building located at Fred Ch~nber-
lain's place near ~ffer's Resort~ ~nd the Board of Election
of s~id Precinct shall be:

'The said election officers constituting the several
Boards of election at said general municipal election shall
each receive as compensation for their services the sum of

The question as to whether or not the members of the
Board of Trustees shall receive compensation for their ser-
vices as such shall be sut~mitted at said general municipal
election to the qualified electors of such city, and the said
co'~:pensation Specified in said call so submitted shall be
Fifty Dollars ($50.00)' a month for each of the members of
such board, such question so submitted shall be placed upon.

The notice of said general municipal election to be
published and posted shall be in the following form:
"NOTICE OF ELECTION TO ELECT OFFICERS FOR THE CiTY OF BAKER-
SFIELD~ AND TO VOTE ON THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT THE ~'E~ff-
BERS': OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SHALL RECEIVE CO~PENSATION FOR
THEIR SERVICES AS SUCH."
TO ALL WHOM IT NAY CONCERN:-
KNOW YE
That pursuant to law, and to the ordinance passed
by the Board of Trustees of the City of BakerSfield, notice
is hereby given:
That a general municipal elect'ion will be held on the
second Monday in the month of April, A.D.1911, the said Mon~
day being the 10th day of said month; the said election will
be held for the purpose of electing all of the officers
required by law to be elected in such city, and also for the
purpose of determining the question whether the members of
the Board of Trustees shall receive compensation for their
services as such. The officers to be elected at said elec-
tion are as follows:A Board of Trustees to consist of five

Assessor; said officers to hold office until the Monday next

to be held on said 10th day of April, A.D. 1911.
And the qualified electors 'residing in that portion of
the Bakersfield school district lying without the incorporated
limits of said city. are, and emch of them is, hereby invited
to vote at said general municipal election for the Board
of Education and no others. "
Said. notice of ele~.tion shall be signed by the President
of the Board of Trustees and by the City Clerk and the City
Clerk shall cause the seal of said City to be attached thereto,
and shall cause said notice of election to be published for
not less than ten days in ~k~'the following pap~, to~
wit: In th$~k~sfield Californian prior to the date o~f said
general municipal election and..also to be published in the
Union Labor Journal at least onc. e prior to the date of said
general~municipal election, said Clerk shall also cause said
notice of election to be posted at each of the polling places
for at'least ten days prior to the date of election. Said
notice of election shall ~lso designe~te the election precincts
for said general municipal election and the places at which
said election will be held in each of said precincts, and the
places ~h-~e the polls will be op~d a-~n ~~e~s--oT~-
the Board of Election of each of said precincts.
Section ?
The City Clerk shall kwx~ cause to have printed ballots
which said ballots shall in all respects be in compliance
with section llg? of the Political Code of this state. The
Ballots to be used~by the electors within the incorporated
limits of the city shall contain the names of all of the per-
sons running for the offices to be filled, to gether with
the said question of the compensation of the members of the
Board of Trustee. s for their services as such. The Ballots
to be used by the electors without the incorporated lin_its
of the said city shall contain the n~tes of the persons run-
ning for members of the Board of Education and no others.
SeCtion 8
The City Clerk shall mail a s~ple ballot to e~.ch quali-
fied elector ~ntitled to vote at said general m'~icipal elec-
tion, at least ten days before the day of said general muni-
cipal election.
The foregoing ordin~ce was passed ~ud adopted by the
Board of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield on the
day of March, 1911, by the following vote:
