An Ordinance fixing and establishing the oompsensation of
employees of the Fire Department of the 0ity of Bakersfield.
2he Board of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield does ordain
as follows:
Section 1. Employees of the Fire Department of the City of
Bakersfield shall receive the following salaries.
(a) Chief of the Fire Department shall receive a salary of
two hundred dollars ($~00.00) per month.
~) Captains .shall receive a salary cf one hundred and fifteen
dollars ($115.00) per month.
lc) Lieutenants shall receive a salary of ninety-five dollars
($95.00) per month,
(d) Steam Engineers shall receive a salary of one hundred and
ten dollars ($110.00) per month.
(e~'Stokers and Relief Engineers shall receive a salary of one
hundred dollars [$100.00) per month..
~f) The Assistaut Chief, on u~ll, in charge of East Bakers-
field, twenty-five dollars {$25.00) per month.
{gl Ail Drivers, hose men or other regularly paid men, shall
during the first six months of their service as such, receive a salary
of eighty dollars [$80.00) per month, and the succeeding six months
a salary of eighty-five dollars {$8&.00) per month; after the first
year of service they shall receive a salary of ninety dollars [$90.00~
per month, and shall not receive a further advancement in salary, unless
promoted t.o positions ~vhich entitle them to an increase according to
the provisions of this ordinance; provided that in no case shall an
.~emplo~ee of the Fire. Department of the City of Bakersfield be deems, d_. ..
entitled to any increase of salary, except upon the recommendation of
the Chief of the Fire Department.
Section 2. Ail other Ordinances or parts of ordinances in con-
fl~ot herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5. Thgs Ordinance shall take effect and be in force
thirty days from and aider its final passage ~ud due publication as
required by law.
