6 The.Board of.Trustees of the City of Bakersfield do ordain
7 as follows:
8 Sec. 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, either as
9 principal, agent, employe, manager, owner or lessee to play or
10 permit any person to play upon any m~sical instrument, or to
11 dance, promenade, sing or give any vaudevill~ theatrical,
12 operatic, musical or other performance, or otherwise' exhibit
13 hi~self or herself in (or near enough to attract to such place
14 'several persons) any drinking saloon, restaurant, c~fe, ~ar
15 room, dance cellar, ballroom, public garden, or any other place
I~ whatsoever if in such place, or at such place there is con-
17 netted therewith the sale, directly or indirectly, for use as a
18~ beverage, or to be drunk on the.premises, any spirituous,
19 vinous, malt or other intoxicating liquors; nor shall any per-
20 son, either as principal, agent, employe, manager, owner or
21 lessee, allow any person to play on any musical instrument, or
~2 to dance, promenade, sing or give any vaudevill~ theatrical,
23 operatic, mUsical or other performance, or ~o operate or cause
2~ or permit to be operated any mechanical instrument that re-
25 produces the voice, sound, song or music, unless there shall
2~ have first been obtained from the Board of Trustees of the City
27 of Bakersfi.eld a permi~ so to do, which permit shall be revco-
28 able at any time~ and provided that such permit shall be grante~

3o liquors upon the premises, or at the place where ~uch per-
31 formance shall occur has previously been issued.
32 Section ~. Any application for such permit shall be made
person, and such permit shall provide ~hat the performances
above specified shall be carried on only between the hours of
..... ~ and/.~£f~..~, der such restriction as may be
imposed by the Board of Trustees in such permit. Such permit
shall be granted by the Board of Trustees in regular session,
and a.copy of the order granting such permit shall be filed in
the office of the City Marshal°
Section .3. Anypperson violating any of the provisions of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction thereof shall be punishable .by a fine not exceeding
three hundred 13001 dollars, or by imprisonment in the County
Jail for a period of not to exceed three months, or by both
· such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. This ordin, ance shall take effect and be in full
force thirty ~30) days from and after its passage and approval
and due publication as required by law. All ordinances or
parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
