8 SAID MARKET.
10 The Board of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield do ordain as
11 follows:
12 See. 1. A public market is hereby established in the City of
15 Bakersfield, to be held on the north side of Sixteenth street be-
14 tween Chester avenue 'and 1 street, in said City, on Tuesdays,
15 Thursdays and Saturdays of each week, beginning at the hour. of
16 ........ o'clock a. m. on the mornings of said days ~md con-'
17 tinuing until 12 o_'clook noon on Tuesdays ~nd Thursdays, and un-
18 til 2 o'clock p. m. on Saturdays of each. week.
19 Sec. 2. It' shall be the duty of the health.officer of s~d
20 City to open and close said market, and to be in constant attez~1-
21 anco thereat during the hours said market is held.
22 Sec. ~. It shall also be the duty of such health officer to
23 assign to each person who applies for selling space upon said mar-
24 ket a place or stand, provided such person has complied with all
25 of the laws and ordinances governing said market; he shall hay&
26 the power to settle all disputes between seller and purchaser,and
2? his decision thereon shall be final; he shall have the power,
28 and it shall be his duty, to .test all scales and measures ~sed
29 in the market at any time, and to compel sellers to adjust their
SO scales and measures so as to give the correct weight ~d measure
31 in accorAance with standard scales and measures. He shall have
32 the power to rule any seller off the market who does not comply
1 with the provisions of this ordinance, and such person so'ruled
2 off shall not be again Permitted to return to the market until
3 reinstated by the Board of Trustees. He shall hav~ power to ~n...~
4 fiscate and destroy all food stuffs placed upon sale on said m~-
$ ket which are unfit for consumption as food.
6 Sec. 4. it shall be the duty of any person occupying a
7 Stall, place or stand' on said market to keep th~ place assigned
8 to him in a neat and orderly condition, and to remove all rub-
9 bish or debris therefrom immediately after the market has been
10 declared closed by the health officer.
11 Sec. 5. No person shall be permitted to occupy a place,
12 stall or stand on said Market for the selling or vending of amy
13 article other than that actually produced by him in the county of
14 Kern.
15 Sec. 6. All pe~.so~s occupying places, stalls or stands on
16 said market shall .immediately upon arriving thereat detach all
17 animals from vehicles used in the conveyance of produce to be
18 sold on said market, snd such animals shall be remove~ from' ~ d
19 market a distance of not less than 200 feet.
20 Sec. 7. Ail foodstuffs offered or exposed for sale on sai~
21 market shall be covered so as to protect same from flies and
22 ~ust.
23. Sec. 8. The health officer shall have full control of sa~l
24 market during the times when said market is open as herein
25 specified, and enforce such rules as the Board of Trustees m~
26 prescribe for the proper conduct of said market, which said
27 rules and regulations shall be posted in at least three conspicu-
28 ou~ places in said market; ayd an~ person violating any of such
-~- rules and regulations, or re~usi~g to comply therewith, Shall be
S0 subject to being disbarred f~gm the privileges of said market.'
Si §cc. ~. Ail persons applying for a place, stall or stand
32 on sai~ market shall be require~ to pay a fee of $2.50 per

quarter or one dollar per mont~...e:r twenty-five cents per
2 at his option; and the fees so collected shall be paid into the
$ general fund of the City of Bakersfield for the expense of main-
