HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 288 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF NOTICE THAT TAXES ARE DUE AND PAYABLE; FIXING THE TIME WHEN TAXES ARE DUE AND PAYABLE; FIXING THE TI~AE 'gltEN TAXES BECOME DELINQUENT, AND THE PENALTY FOR SUCH DELINQUENCY. BE IT 0RDAII~ED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAEERSFIELD, as follows: S~CTION 1. The ts. xes on all person.al property secured by real property and one-half of the taxes on all real property will be due and payable on the f~.u.r.~.h Monday in October of each year; that the remaining one- half of the taxes on all real property will be payable on and after the first Monday in January, next, All taxes may be paid at the time. the first installment as herein provided is due and payable. SEC T I ON 2 ..-.' On or before the f~mt]~Monday in October, the City Treasurer must publish a notice specifying: (1) That the taxes on all personal property secured by real property and one-half of the taxes on all real property will be due and Payabl~ on the.~.~r~.t~hMonday ih October, 'and will be delinquent on the first Monday in December next thereafter at sim o'clock P.M., and that unless paid prior thereto fifteen. (15) per cent will be added to the mount thereof,. ~nd ~z~' if .~' o't .paid before the last Monday in April, next, at six o'clock P.M.., an .additional five (~) per cent will be added thereto. That the remaining one-half of the taxes on all real property will be payable on and after the "first Monday in January, next, and will be delinquent on the last MOnday in Apr~ ...... next thereafter, at six o'clock P.M., and that unless paid. prior thereto five (5) per cent will be added to the ~nount thereof. (2) That all taxes may be paid at the .time the first install- ment, as herein provided, is due and payable. (3) The times and places at which payment of taxes may be made. SECTION 3. On the first Monday of December of each year, at six o'clock P.M. all taxis then unpaid, except the last installment of the real property taxes, are delinquent, and thereafter the City Treasurer must Collect for the use of the City of Bakersfield an additional fifteen (15) per cent thereof; provided, that if they be not paid before the last Monday in April next succeeding, at six o'clock P.M., he shall collect an additional five (5) per cent thereon. On the last Monday in April of each year, at six o'clock P.M., all the unpaid portion of 'the remaining one-half of the taxes on all real property is delinquent, and thereafter the City Treasurer must collect, for the use of the City of Bakersfield, an additional five (5) per cent thereon; provided, that the entire tax on any real property may. 'be paid at the time the first installment, as above provided, is due and payable~ and provided further, that the taxes on all personal property unsecured by real property shall be' due and payable immediately after the assessment of said personal property is made. SECTION 4. All 0rdinafices and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith insofar as the. same are in conflict, are her.eby repealed. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days from and after its passage.
