AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. In this ordinance the phrase "curb line" shall be used_
and construed to mean a line in the street, avenue or lane or alley
parallel with the property-line between the "side-walk space-~ and the
roadway as hereinafter defined.
The phrase "property-line" shall be used and construed to mean
a line bet¥~een a street, avenue, lane or alley and the blocks,squares
or lots abutting upon such street,avenue, lane or alley.
The phrase "sidewalk space" shall be used and eonstrued to
mean the space, between s~id property-line and curb-line.
The phrase "parking-~A~".." shall be use~l and construed to
mean as mu~h~%'~he sidewalk space next to the curb line as the C~uncil
may in any wise determine.
The word "sidewalk" shall be used and construed, i to mean that
portion of the street which is set apart by dedication, ordinance or
otherwise,~.and improved for ~he use of pedestrians, or such part of the
sidewalk sp~ce as the Council may specify.
The word"roadway" shall be used and construed to be so ~uch of
the street, s~venue, lane or alAe'y as lies between the curb-lines thereof.
SECTION ~.;.
(1) On s~ll streets or avenues 50 to 70 feet wide,~
except as hereinafter provide~, es. ch curb line shall be 1~ feet from
its adjacent property line.
(2) On all streets or avenues 70 to 85~feet ~ide..~, except ss
hereinafter provided, es~ch curb line shall be l&;~feet from its adjacent.

(~) On all streets or avenues ~Ve~'":~85 feet wide, except as
hereinafter provided, each.curb line shall be 17 feet from its adjacent
property line
(4) On all stWl~ets or alleys more than 51~m~ feet and less than 41
feet wide ee~ch curb line shall be 8 feet from. its adjacent property line.
(§) On all alleys 28 to ~ feet wide~.eae.l~ curb line shallJ, bee
6 feet from its adjacent property line.
(6) On all alleys~.less than 28 feet in width each curb line~:

also on C~ifornia Avenue~ from the westerly curb line of F street, pro-
duced~, to the easterly curb line of Oleander avenue, the curb line.. ~hall
be ~ feet from the ~Jacent property line~ on the south side of said
California Avenue~-between the pointa: above designate~; also that the
curb line~: on the northerly side of Californ~:, avenue~ between the wester-
ly curb line::.of F street, produced., and the easterly curb line:of
01e~dert avenue shall be 10 feet from the adjacent property line. 0n

(8) The radiue~.of all curb returns at the lntersectionuof streets~
and alleys shall be 7 feet.
(9) The radiue~ of all curb returns at the intersection of

(10) The cross-section of the surface g~ade of all sidewalks
shall hs. vea surface slope downward of 3 inches from the property line
to the curb-line, except in alleys, where the slope, on ~ and 8 foot
walks- shall be 2 inches, and on 3-foot walk~, 1 inch.
(ll) There shall be no sidewalks const~cted on any street or
avenue, less than ~ feet in width and when the opinion of the Superintend~-
e~t of streets the public, convenience' requires-a wider;.walk, he shall
designate the width at the ti~ he grants the permit for laying said~:
walk.
~CTION 3', Nothing in this ordins.ncee shall be ccnstrued as in
any. way affect~.ng such rights as public ee~ice corporations have under,.
existing ordinances and laws to uncover water, gas, or other pipes--or
conduits heretoforeelaid under streets, alleys or parking ~ces for the
purpose cf ~king necessary connections or repairs.
~CTION ~. All ordinances~ or parts of ordinances in conflic$
with this ordi~,,ance~are hereby repealed'~
This ordinance, shall be in full force and effect thirty days-:
from and after its passage.
