In this ordinance the phrase "curb line" shall be used_ and construed to mean a line in the street, avenue or lane or alley parallel with the property-line between the "side-walk space-~ and the roadway as hereinafter defined. The phrase "property-line" shall be used and construed to mean a line bet¥~een a street, avenue, lane or alley and the blocks,squares or lots abutting upon such street,avenue, lane or alley. The phrase "sidewalk space" shall be used and eonstrued to mean the space, between s~id property-line and curb-line. The phrase "parking-~A~".." shall be use~l and construed to mean as mu~h~%'~he sidewalk space next to the curb line as the C~uncil may in any wise determine. The word "sidewalk" shall be used and construed, i to mean that portion of the street which is set apart by dedication, ordinance or otherwise,~.and improved for ~he use of pedestrians, or such part of the sidewalk sp~ce as the Council may specify. The word"roadway" shall be used and construed to be so ~uch of the street, s~venue, lane or alAe'y as lies between the curb-lines thereof. SECTION ~.;. (1) On s~ll streets or avenues 50 to 70 feet wide,~ except as hereinafter provide~, es. ch curb line shall be 1~ feet from its adjacent property line. (2) On all streets or avenues 70 to 85~feet ~ide..~, except ss hereinafter provided, es~ch curb line shall be l&;~feet from its adjacent. property line.
