PR01~IDING~.~A PENALTY THEREFOR.
BE. IT ORDAINED B~ THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0F~
BAi~ERSFIELD., AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
It shall be unlawful for any person, persons~; club,
corporation or associa~tion, to give an exhibition of boxing within
the City of Bs~kersfield, without first having obtained from the
City Manager of said city, a permit~, to conduct such boxing exhibition.
SECTION 2:
The City ~anager is hereby authorized to issue, a
license to any person, persons, club, corporation or associa~tion,
to conduct boeing exhibitions within the City of Bakersfield,
provided, however, that no such permit shall be granted unless
after careful investigation the said City Manager shall be of the
opinion that such boxing exhibition will be in all particulars
managed and conducted as provided.~by the laweJ~ of the State of
California, and it shall be entirely within the discretion of
said City Manager, upon such investigation, to grant or refuse to
grant any such permit.
SECTION 3:
Each applicant for such permit .shall deposit with
the City Manager, the sum of $10.00, as a license fee for the
privilege of carrying on or conducting such boxing exhibition or
exhibition~-~ at any given place within aa period of twelve hours,
which said sum shall be paid into the city treasury, upon the
issuing of such permit, for the use and benefit of the City of
Bakersfield, or upon the refusal thereof, the same shall be
returned to the applicant0
S~CTION 4:
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to
promote, participate in or attend, any such boxing contest unless~
such permit first shall have been obtained, and said fee of $10.00
shall have been paid~, as above provided.
SECTION 5:
Any person or persons violating any of the forego-
ing provisions~ shall be deemed., guilty of a misdemeanors, and. upon
conviction thereof.~, shall be fined: in a sum not exceeding $500.00
or be imprisoned~ in the county jail not to exceed~- six months'-, or
by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 6:
This ordinance, shall be in full force and effect from
and after thirty days: from-the date of its pass~ge.
