BE IT 0RDAI~D BY T~ CDUIICIL 0F T~ CITY 0F B~RSFIE~, AS FOLLOV~S: SECTION l. It shs~l be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to carry on, conduct or ~intain the business ef messenger c~ll ~~.~ or messenger service, in the City of B~ersfield, wi'tho~t having first obtaine~, a pe~it~, from .the.,Chief~ of Police; of the City of B~ersfield, to cs. rry on, conduct or maintain such business'. ~CTION 2. No such permit shall be granted except upon the written application of the person, firm or corporation desiring s~ae, addressed te the Chie~ of Police; said ~pplication shall be signed by the applicant and shall specify the loc~tion of~ the place of business, of said. applicant; and said application must be ?: endoreed:~by at least three (3) reputable citizens of the City of Bskersfield. SECTION ~. That any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions of this 0rdinance~ shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceed~ing Two~9_Hundred Dollars ($200.00) or by imprisomment in the', City~ exceeding one hundredd (100) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
