HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 334 ORDINANCE NO. ~zl' AN ORDInaNCE REQUIRING ALL PERSONS, FIRMS AND CORPORATIONS 'WHO KEEP', MAINTAIN, CONDUCT OR RUN ANY HOTEL OR LODGING HOUSE, TO KEEP A REGISTER OF ALL PERSONS OCCUPYING ROOMS THEREIN; PRESCRIBING HOW AND BY WHOM SUCH REGISTRATION SHALL BE' MADE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, as follows: SECTION 1. Whenever any person, persons, firm or corporation, keeps, maintains, conducts' or runs any hotel, rooming-house, lodging house or habitation where rooms are rented for lodging purposes, such person, persons, firm or corporation must provide a book for the registration of all persons who occupy rooms in such hotel, rooming house, lodging house or habitation. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any such person, persons, firm or corporation to rent, let, or lease to, or permit to be occupied bM any person or persons, any room or rooms in any hotel, rooming house, lodging house, or habitation, unless such person or persons shall first sign their name and address with date of such signing, in the register kept for that purpose. Provided, however, that whenever there are two or more persons in one party, such registration may be made by any one of the party, designated to so sign, but in every instance the name and address of all persons in such party, together with date of entry, must be entered upon such register. Such register must at all times be open for inspection by the Chief of Police or any other person authorized to examine same. SECTION 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con- viction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding Three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars, or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, on the ~~ day of Nay, 191?, by the following vote: APPROVED this~day of Nay, 1917.
