HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD NO 332 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14 OF ORDINANCE NO. 327, OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND IMPOSING MUNICIP_~L LICENSES, PRESCRIBING HOW AND BY WHOM LICENSES SHALL BE OBTAINED, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE NON- PROCUREMENT OF LICENSES, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 256, AND ALL ORDINANCES AMENDATORY THERETO. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Election 14 of Ordinance No. 327, of the City of Bakers- field, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND I}~POSING MUNICIPAL LICENSES, PRE~'.CRIBING HOW AND BY WHOM LICENSES SHALL BE OBTAINED, PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE NON-PROCURE~ENT 'OF LICENSES, REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 256, AND ALL ORDINANCES AMENDATORY THERETO", is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION I4. (a) For any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of conducting a theatre at an established place of business, wholly within a permanent building, constricted for theatri- cal purposes, the license fee shall be as follows: if for less than one month, $10.00 per day~ if for one month, $20.00 per month~ if for one year, ~lO0.O0 per year, or ~30.00 per quarter. (b) ~'or any person, firm or corporation engaged in the busi- ness of conducting an open air theatre, having no roof, provided same has permanent, fire-proof walls, approved by the Building Inspector of sal~ City of Bakersfield, the license fee shall be as follows: if for less than one month,$..!OJO0 per day; if for one month, $ 20.00 per month~ if for the season, $ .... ~er season, or $ 30.00 per quarter. (c) For any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of conducting an open air show or theatre, or tent show, in any building or structure not having permanent fire-proof walls, as provided herein, other than as provided in the next paragraph, the license fee shall be -1- as follows: if for less than one month, $25.00 per day; if for one month, $500.00 per month; if for one year $2500.00 per year, or $1000.00 per quarter. For e;~ch separate exhibition of minstrels, opera or concert singers, the license shall be the same as required for theatrical performances. The provisions of the above subdivisions shall not apply to exhibitions or entertainments given for the benefit of churches, schools, or charitable entertainments of any amateur association or literary society of this City, or for entertainments under the auspices of any Chautauqua Association.
