AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SALE, SERVING
J~ND GIVING AWAY OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS TO MINORS
~.J~D PREVENTING I~INORS FROM VISITING PUBLIC BILLIARD
OR POOL ROOMS. BAR R00~S OR SALOONS: MAKING THE VI0-
LATION A ~ISDE~EANOR: PROVIDING A PENALTY THEREFOR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. It shall be nnlawfnl for any person under the age of twenty-
one years to be, remain in, enter or visit any pnblic billiard room,
pool room, hat room or saloon in the City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawfnl for any person, firm or corporation, his
employees, se~.~vants or agents having charge, control, or management
of any pnblic billiard room, pool room, bar room, or saloon in the
City of Bakersfield, to snffer or permit any person under the age of
twenty-one years, to be or remain in, enter or visit snch public
billiard room,, pool room, bar room, or saloon.
SECTION 3. It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of twenty-
one to bny fromm, or to apply to the owner, manager, servant, w~aitor,
waitress, or employee of any cafe, restaurant, hotel, wholesale or
retail liquor establishment, to be served with spirituous, malt, or
fermented liq~aors or wines.
SECTION 4. It shall be unlawfnl for any person, whether as proprietor,
manager, clerk, employee or servant, in any cafe, hotel, bar room,
saloon, wholesale liqnor: honse, or other place where intoxicating
liqnors are s.old, whether at wholesale or retail, to serve, or canse,
or permit to 'be served, sold or given away, to any person under the
age of twenty-one years, any intoxicating liqnors.
SECTION ~. Sections 1 s~d ~ of this Ordinance shall be posted in at least
two conspicnons places in every public billiard room, pool room, bar
room and saloon in the City of Bakersfield.
Section 3 of this Ordinance shall be posted in at least two

conspicuous places in every cafe, restaurant or hotel, holding a
?]lass B" hotel, eating house, or restaurant liquor license.
SECTION 6. The violation of any of the foregoing provisions, by any
person, firm or corporation is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor,
and shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred Fifty
Dollars ($250.00), or by imprisonment in the County Jail not exceed-
ing ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 7. All Crdinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith
are he'reby repealed.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was passed snd
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield on the 17th day of
September, 1917, by the following vote:
