~J~ ORDINANCE REGULATING PUBLIC BILLIARD H~LS
AND PUBLIC POOL ROOMS; MAKING THE VIOLATION A MISDE-
MEANOR,, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THEREFOR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL 0F THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD,
as follows:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person ~nder the age of eighteen
(18) years, to be, remain in, enter or visit any public billiard
hall or public pool room in the City of Bakersfield.
SECTION 2. I shall be unlaeful for any person, firm or corporation, his
or their employees, servants or agents having charge, control or
management of any public billiard hall or public pool room in the
City of Bakersfield, to suffer or permit any person under the age
of eighteen (18) years, to be or remain in, enter or visit each
public billiard hall or public pool room.
SECTION 3. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
keeping, operating, m~intalning or conducting amy public billiard
· hall or public pool room, to have or permit any card tables or card
playing of any description whatsoever, or to have, permit or allow
any .entrance to or from any place or room where card tables or card
playing is permitted or carried on, or where intoxicating liquors
are sold or disposed of; or have, permit or allow any entrance to or
from any pi. ace or room leading into or opening off from any such.
place where card tables or card playing is permitted or allowed, or
where intoxicating liquors are sold or disposed of; provided, how-
ever, that this section shall not be construed to apply to establish-
ments conducted under a Club Liquor License.
SECTION 4. A ccp~ of this Ordinance shall be Posted in at least two (2)
conspicuou~ places in: every public billiard hall and public pool
room in the City'of Bakersfield..-
SECTION ~.' The violation of any of the foregoing provisions by any
person, fi~ or corporation is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor
and .shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding Two Hundred and '>-: "'"
Fifty Dollars '$2~0.00) or by imprisonment in the County Jail not ex-
ceeding ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 6. Ail Ordinances,and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith
· are hereby repealed.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was passed by
the Council of the City of Bakersfield, on the 1st day of April, 1918,
by the following vote:
