AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO .~10
ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SAL~ S[~RV-
ING. FURNISHING AND GIVING AWAY ANY SPIRITUOUS, .
~ALT OR FEI~ENTED LIQUORS. WINES OR CIDERS, OR MIX
ED ?TOXICATING LIQUORS. IN ANY CLUB IN THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD: PROVIDING FOR A LICENSE TAX THEREON.
AND THE COLLECTION OF SUOH LICENSE TAX. AND PROVID-
ING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF", BY ADDING
A N~ SECTION THERETO.
WHEREAS, the passage of an emergency Ordinance prohibiting
the sellings,, serving, and giving away of intoxicating liquors in
the City of Bakersfield on Sunday, is deemed necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of public health, peace and safety, and as a
war measure:
NO~, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSF.iELD, as'follows'
SECTION 1.. Tha~;~0rdinance No. 310, of the City of Bakersfield, entitled:
".AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SALE, sERVING, FURNISHING _AND GIVING
AWAY ANY S]?IRITUOUS,. MALT OR FEI~-~TED LIQUORS, WINES OR CIDERS, OR
MIXED INTOXICATING LIQUORS, IN ANY CLUB IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD:
PROVIDING !~OR A LICENSE TAX THEREON, AND THE COLLECTION OF SUCH
LICENSE TAX, AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF", be
and the same is hereby amended by adding a new Section thereto, to
be known as Section 8~, to read as follows:
SECTION 8~. It shall be unlawful for any club or associa-
tion holdil,~g a club liquor license, or any member thereof, or any
agent, servant or employee, to sell, serve or give away any spirit-
uous, malt or fermented liquors, wines or ciders, or mixed intox-
icating'li-,quors, in 'or about said club rooms between the hours of
11:30 o'clock, P. M., of any day, and 6 o'clock A. M., of the fol-
lowing day, or between the hours of 11:~0 o'clock P. M., on Saturday
and 6 o'clock A. M., of the Monday following.
SECTION 2. This Ordinance is enacted, for the immediate preServati:en-Of~
the public health, peace and safety, and is hereby declared te be
an emergency measure, and shall be in full force and effect ime-
diately up~on its passage.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance was passed
by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, on the 6th day of May,
1918, by tlhe following vote:
