AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 179, entitled, "An
ORDINANCE ]~EGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION, ERECTION, REPAIR, ALTER-
ATION, R's~OVAL, DE~OLITION, COIfiIEIINATION Ai~D USE OF BUILDINGS
IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIEI~#, be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
I~ECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm
or corporation, either as owner, architect, builder, principal,
agent or .otherwise, to commence or proceed with the erection,
construction, alteration, repair, moving or demolition, of any.
building or other structure, exceeding Ten Dollars in cost
(restoration of plastering or painting or reshingling of roofs
excepted), in the City of Bakersfield, unless a written permit
to do such work has been first obtained from the Department
of buildings in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance.
Provided, however, that no fee shall be charged for said permit
unless the estimated cost of said work shall exceed the sum of
Sixty Dollars ($60.00) as provided in Section 29 of this Ordinance .
and Provided further, that any building or other structure
erec~e~ by the County of Eern, or the State of C~lifornia, or "
the United States of America, shall be exempt from the pa~m~n~t~
of a~4~s:f~ew~'~0r~$aid permits.
Any person desiring such permit shall file with the
Department of Buildings on a blank furnished by .said Department
location, by deed description of the proposed work, the names
of the owner, architect, builder, an estimate of the cost of
the proposed work, the probable time of the completion of said
work, a~nd the pur~posee f~r w~ch the ~u~ld~n~to ~b~e~

shall also be filed with the application, and in the event of
a pe~it being issued therefor, the s~d buildi~ or other
structure sE1 not Be constructed in other ~ner t~n as
aet forth in said plans and specifications, unless a new pe~t
is obtained therefor.
