An ordinance establishing water rates and fixing
the compensation for D~Jme water for fantily uses, for private
purposes, ~-~nd municipal ptt?poses and for all public uses
in an~ for the City of Bakersfield, Kern Co,~ty, California,
for the year co~n~encing July l, 19Os, and. ending J~e' SO, 1904
The BOard of Trustees of the City of Bakersfield,
County of Kern, grate of California~ ~O~ORDAIN,
as follows:
~ection 1.
The rates to be charged and collected by any
person, company, association or corporation, supplying..
the City of Bakersfield, or the inhabitants thereof, with~
water, and for water furnished to said city, or the inhab-
itants thereof, are hereby fixed as follow~:
1. ~or every tenement or dv~elling house of ~not
exceeding three rooms, occupied by a single family,

ed by the following metre rates, viz:

42. All rates excerpt metre rates are due
and pay. able in advance, and metre rates are due
and payable at the end of each month, exc.epti.ng tha~
a deposit may be required thereon for not exceeding
three-quarters of the estimated quantity of water used.
45. ~or water required for p~mrposes which .are not
specified in the above tariffs, the rates shall be fixed
in accordance with the ~.bove rates.
44. No ch_~.rge will be made for bath tubs in private
residences.

Section E.
1. No person, except a fireman in the disc~ar~e
of his duty, shall, v~ithout a written permit 'from the
company~ open or in any way tamper with any fire hydrant,
stop-cock or air-cock Connected v~ith the mains of s-aid..
comD~uies or persons.
B. I~.Gediately upon an alarm of fire, all persons
using water for ..~prinkling or irrigating purposes must
close th~ir faucets and keep them closed during the continuance
of the ~:se of the ~?ater by the fire deps~tmen%.
Section Z.
This ordinance fixes the maximum beyond which any
Derson, company, association, or corporation shall not be
permitted to chs_~ge or collect for water supDlied.
Section 4.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in f~o~ll force
and effect on the 1st d.a~ of July A.D.19OS, and remain in
full force until and including the $Oth day of June A.D.1904,
and before going into effect shall be published once in
the paper rudder contract with the city to do..the public
print ing.
