A RESOLUTION OF THE BAKERSFIELD REDEVELOPMENT
AGENCY REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
AMEND THE DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT PLAN
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield ( "City ") duly adopted the Downtown Redevelopment
Project and Plan (the "Redevelopment Plan ") on August 14, 1972, amended November 25,
1974, August 30, 1976, and December 12, 1979; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency ( "Agency ") is charged with the
implementation the Redevlopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, the current language of the Plan prevents the Agency from incurring debt
for the Plan after January 1, 2004; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33333.6, the City may amend
the Plan to eliminate this limitation on incurring debt; and
WHEREAS, the redevelopment of the area encompassed by the Plan is not yet
complete and the Agency anticipates that substantial additional efforts to redevelop the Plan's
area could be funded by incurring additional debt.
follows: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency as
SECTION 1. The above recitals, incorporated herein, are true and correct and
constitutes findings of the Agency.
SECTION 2. The Agency hereby requests that the City act to adopt an ordinance,
pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33333.6, amending the Downtown Redevelopment
Plan in order to eliminate the time limit on the incurrence of debt for the Downtown
Redevelopment Project.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.

HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the
Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency at a regular meeting thereof held on October 13, 2003, by
the following vote;
